Historic Hospitality Above Downtown Galena
We operate Lamberson Guest House as the eleventh owners of this four-room bed and breakfast in Galena, Illinois. Built in 1870 for David and Elizabeth Lamberson, the house stands above historic downtown on Prospect Street. Today, we welcome travelers into the original residence while continuing its modern lodging history.
Our Galena Traditional-style mansion carries Italianate-inspired touches throughout, from the front porch to the hand-carved entrance doors. Inside, heart-pine and hardwood floors, carved woodwork, and leaded glass remain from the home's earliest years, alongside an original tiled fireplace and its hand-carved mantel.
Architecture That Has Endured
We are Bart and Val Gregersen. As a retired math teacher (Val) and a school counselor (Bart), caring for and supporting others has always been at the heart of our lives, and that same spirit guides our hospitality today. We cherish the sense of community that comes from sharing good food, gathering around a table, and creating a place where people feel genuinely welcome.
