Our Market Square Arts Festival is being held this year on August 12-13th, beginning at 10:00 am. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in our dining room and head down the steps into town. The best artists in the area will be setting up on the lawn of the Old Market House.
The Galena River Trail offers 6 miles (each way) of scenic hiking or biking. The trail is composed of finely crushed rock and is open to the public at no cost. We’ve had quite a few folks bring their bikes or hike after breakfast and have really enjoyed the signs detailing the history, as well as wildlife and plant information of the area which are located along the way. This is a great way to also enjoy some of the best bird watching in the area.
I have to say that some of the best laughter around the table comes from the stories of the zip line at Long Hollow Canopy Tours. The oldest person to take advantage of this spectacular ride was 93 years old! Personally…I have a horrible fear of heights, but if I didn’t, I’d certainly give it a try. You can even schedule your ride in advance. www.longhollowcanopytours.com
It has been a great summer so far. Folks have been popping in and staying during the mid-week to take advantage of the “down time” in Galena.
Have a safe and Happy summer…hope to see you all soon!
